Philip Wolin

Philip Wolin has advised clients on banking law, business, financial services, real estate transactions, and complex commercial litigation for over 50 years. In addition, he handles cases involving problem loan workouts, accounting malpractice, bond claims, and bank fraud. Phil is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the Supreme Court of the State of Illinois.
Among his accomplishments, Phil:

  • Coordinated the formation of an Illinois railroad.
  • Formed and created a regional airport providing service in the Chicago area.
  • Created several national and state-chartered banks and lending institutions.
  • Served as special counsel for bank internal audit investigations.
  • Successfully negotiated a $400-million settlement of a securities fraud class action involving six publicly traded entities.
  • Represented clients in major debt restructuring for both lenders and borrowers.
  • Represented several clients in obtaining recoveries on Fidelity Bonds.

Phil has a Juris Doctor from DePaul University, where he was both case editor and comment editor of the DePaul Law Review. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He has served as bank director and counsel to many individual bank directors and on the boards of many charities, including serving as president and director of Special Children’s Charities (Chicago Area Special Olympics). In addition, Phil has served as a member of the Council of Regents, Loyola University Chicago.
